UST Tiger Radio is an internet radio station owned by the University of Santo Tomas, the Philippines’ oldest university. Tiger Radio was established in 2009. It used to broadcast without DJ’s, with all the shows in its programming grid pre-recorded and cued into a pre-set playlist. At the start of the A.Y. 2010–2011, however, a reform in its programming was introduced. Tomasian Cable Television (TOMCAT), the university-wide organization that manages Tiger Radio, began producing and airing live programming content. The Tiger Radio booth is located at the Educational Technology Center inside the Miguel de Benavides Library (Central Library) of the UST Campus, España Boulevard, Sampaloc, Manila. UST Tiger Radio is under the supervision and production of the Tomasian Cable Television (TOMCAT). Hear the Roar! UST Tiger Radio is being managed by the Tomasian Cable Television, the official closed-circuit cable television network of the University of Santo Tomas. As a part of the Tomasian Cable Television, it aims to provides the members of the Thomasian and Filipino community with information updates, value advocacy, Thomasian-produced educational programs, entertainment shows and live coverage of university events, symposia and lecture. It trains students to tell their stories to the media, furthermore it tries to create shows that would better the relationships among the diverse member of the community. |
